Rita Cormier, 89, of Fitchburg looks through a stand magnifier, which tests her potential and ability to read, while having her eyes evaluated by Dr. Louis Frank, who holds newspaper print for her in the New England Eye On-Sight bus. The bus, parked outside of the Fitchburg Senior Center on Friday, travels around the state of Massachusetts offering a low vision eye clinic that local seniors were able to take advantage of to get tested.

Townsend Barn Fire--Monday, February 14, 2011

Firefighters from Townsend, Ashby, Lunenburg, and Mason, N.H. were at the scene of a barn fire off of West Meadow Road in Townsend on Monday morning. The barn belonged to Townsend resident Jim Craven who built custom homes and cabinetry through his business Homes by Craven. The building, which was a total loss, contained all of his tools that he used for his job that he'd been doing for nearly 57 years and the estimated loss was about $1 million.

Lunenburg firefighters respond to a fire at a mobile home in the Meadow Woods Mobile Home Park on Massachusetts Avenue. No one was injured in the blaze. The fire left a 57-year-old resident homeless. The building was a total loss.

4-Alarm Fire--Wednesday, February 9, 2011

Fire departments from Ashburnham, Ashby, Gardner, Winchendon, Rindge, Fitchburg, and Townsend respond to a 4-alarm fire at 40 Central Street in Ashburnham, an apartment building owned by Cushing Academy, Wednesday afternoon. The first floor was occupied and the second and third were under renovation. Nobody was injured.

The Fraticelli Oil garage roof in Leominster collapsed due to the heavy weight of snow that has been building up from the frequent storms. Three oil trucks were inside, however nobody was in the garage when the roof fell in.
